Designations and Awards

In 2025, Members Credit Union earned the AARP BankSafe Trained Seal in recognition of our commitment to protecting older adults from financial exploitation. This distinction is awarded to financial institutions that complete AARP’s rigorous training program and implement policies to help identify and respond to elder financial abuse.
The majority of our staff completed this training, which is designed to help them spot warning signs of fraud, ask the right questions, and take action to safeguard our senior members. We’ve also put in place internal protocols for reporting suspicious activity and ensuring that our members receive both protection and dignity in every interaction.
We’re proud to join other financial institutions across the country in this effort. By participating in the BankSafe program, we’re not only safeguarding our senior members, but we’re also strengthening trust and security for our entire credit union community.

Juntos Avanzamos

In 2017 we were recognized as the first Juntos Avanzamos credit union in Connecticut and one of under 100 in the US because of the efforts we have made to serve our Hispanic members; offering Spanish speaking staff and materials, financial counseling and fair priced products and loans that are saving them money every day and helping them navigate the financial landscape in the US. Bringing services to our immigrant members, including those with an ITIN benefits them, benefits our community and benefits our members overall. We are proud to be a Juntos Avanzamos Credit Union!

2018 Trailblazer of the Year Award for Outstanding Service to the Underserved

MCU is the proud winner of the national 2018 Trailblazer Award for Outstanding Service to the Underserved. We received this recognition for our efforts to help low income and immigrant members of our community overcome some of their challenges by focusing on affordable used auto loans and small balance unsecured loans and offering them free financial counseling.
